6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 1 Corinthians 3:6-9 (KJV)
True Christianity is a system of promises fulfilled.
The fact is that in church most members never claim most of God’s promises.
The most important insight you will get is how to get the promises fulfilled
God brings about his harvest in the same way a farmer does!
Moffatt’s Translation says: I did the planting, Apollos did the watering, God made the seed grow! The Apostle Paul planted, the Teacher, Apollos watered and God caused the seed to grow!
Here are 8 things you need to understand to see God’s promises fulfilled in your life
1. YOU ARE GOD’S PROPERTY!
God’s HUSBANDRY by definition is; God's cultivation, a tilled field, God's garden.
The Garden of Eden was God’s original Garden. The church today is God’s Garden.
YOU ARE: God’s field, God’s garden, God’s farm – God’s place to plant seed.
A field belongs to its owner – not itself! Remember, you were bought with a price. The price was the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
2. WHAT IS THE SEED THAT IS TO BE PLANTED?
No garden grows unless seed is planted! Paul said I did the planting!
Jesus gave us insight when He said the Sower sows the Word.
The seed that the Sower sows is the Word! Luke 8:11 says clearly that the seed is the Word of God. The seed is the Word of God!
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Mark 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
Mark 4:24 (AMPC) And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, so take heed how you hear! It all comes with hearing!
Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
Luke reveals that you’re not going to reap a harvest without hearing the Word!
God wants to help people but they must hear!
Luke 5:15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
Luke 6:17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
3. THE INCORRUPTIBLE SEED
We are saying that one of the most important messages is how to manifest the promises. God brings about his harvest in the same way a farmer does!
1 Peter 1:23 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Charles G. Finney says; having a revival is no more mystical than a farmer reaping a crop. You plant – water and increase! The Word lets us know what to trust Him for. Romans 10:17 says faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God! We know what God’s will is by his Word!
God wants all of His seed planted – His purpose is bringing forth fruit!
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
4. SEED MUST BE PLANTED
The Seed is powerless unless it is planted. What good would it do a farmer to have the best seed in the world if he never planted it? The Word of God is the seed! The Word of God is the power of God (Hebrews 4:12, Romans 1:16).
The infinite price paid for the field reveals the importance of the seed!
Take heed how you hear!!!
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
All of God’s works are done in faithfulness to His promises!
Nothing can take the place of the seed – not even prayer.
You should sow the seed with prayer. Many fail in manifesting the promises because they are trying to get the promises manifested though prayer alone. Prayer is not the seed – the Word is the seed!
The only purpose of God’s promises is their fulfillment. The promises represent what He is eager to do for us. 2 Peter 1: 4 exceeding great and precious promises… suitable to meet all of our needs!!!
2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
The promises are to be known, recognized – claimed – sown and tilled by prayer!
We should treat the promises like Abraham did!
Romans 4:12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
We have the same kind of faith Abraham had – Galatians 3:29
Is God less real to us? No! we walk by faith, not by sight.
Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
GIVE THE WORD ITS PLACE!!!
My Word has no place in you! – Jesus.
John 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
What placed should the Word have in us? Most of God’s promises are never claimed by most church members! We have EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES! How precious is the Word to you?
Paul said, I did the planting! If farmers treated their seed the way the church treats the Word, they would starve the world!
5. THE POSSIBILITIES OF THE SEED
In the seed are infinite possibilities! So, what must we do with this Seed?
We must plant the seed in our hearts and minds.
We must eat it! Meditate on it! Then we get the harvest of life and health (3 John 2).
Proverbs 4:20-22 (AMP) 20 My son, pay attention to my words and be willing to learn; Open your ears to my sayings. 21 Do not let them escape from your sight; Keep them in the center of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them, And healing and health to all their flesh.
You can’t have verse 22 without first having verses 20-21!
We said earlier of the ministry of Jesus, they came to hear him and to be healed. Acts 19:20 says the Word prevailed! The seed brings forth incorruptible results – after its kind! True Christianity is a system of promises from the Word fulfilled.
It is said of the early believers; They gladly received the Word!
Acts 19:20 20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
6. WATERING THE SEED= GROWTH
Paul said, I have planted; Apollos did the watering! God made the seed to grow! We must remember that the conditions were right for growth in this church. Jesus spoke of stony ground not bringing forth fruit. Stony ground has no moisture – The ground must be kept moist. Plants must be watered.
2 Thessalonians 1:3 speaks of your faith groweth exceeding. Growth comes from watering!
2 Thessalonians 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
Be filled with the spirit – keep the ground moist!!!
David watered the seed in Ps.119. He did so by speaking the Word. In 176 verses the Bible shows David’s attitude about the Word.
David watered the Word!
Watering the seed is as necessary as planting it. God can’t make the seed grow unless we water it! You water the Word with the Word!
7. THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HEARER
The hearer, not the sower is responsible for the keeping of the Seed.
Jesus said be careful what and how you hear!
The potential of the seed is not the problem.
He makes promises for one purpose – to make the seed grow!!!
When kept in good ground and watered it always grows!!!
The justice of God requires that He make the seed to grow when it is planted and watered.
The seed of the Word is involved in manifesting health and prosperity!
Keep it! Feed upon it and the harvest will grow!
You can’t reap a crop without planting seed!
You water by meditating on the Word! Absorb the Life of the word!
Keep watering the Word! Meditate – Think on it – Affirm it! -- Be reminded of it! Imagine it!
Be patient. It doesn’t work overnight in farming! Water the seed! You plant and keep watering. Keep teaching the Word ministers. You can’t build a ministry on spiritual gifts! Build on the Word!
Because of unbelief they did not enter into the promised land.
Here is a new word, un-persuadable-ness. The meaning is that they couldn’t be persuaded to act on God’s Word.
This is always due to a failure to meditate – They did not enter in!
God spoke the Word to them. The word spoken was not mixed with faith.
The Word must be mixed with faith watered.
Hebrews chapter four is most insightful about unbelief.
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest… 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief. (Hebrews 4).
Unbelief is due to a failure to meditate on the Word and mix it. The tongue is the mixer. You mix faith by confessing and affirming the Word.
